Review: Quaker Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola Bars

This whole blog was originally conceived because I wanted a place to showcase how much I loved 3 things that recently came into my life, and one of them was the Quaker Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola Bar.

Really.

Originally, they were an impulse purchase at the grocery store. Since then, I've probably purchased 8 more boxes. In 5 months.

I've always liked soft candy-esque granola bars -- for at least 25 years. These are the best I've ever had. The cherry flavor is sweet and delicious, the chocolate is rich and dark, and the granola has a great chewy texture that helps you feel like you ate something substantial.

They are even better than the totally candy faux granola bars that Hershey made in the 1980s. And those were basically chocolate bars with bits of rice crispy, oat, raisin, and almond in them.

Not only is the flavor fantastic, but the Quaker Dark Chocolate Cherry granola bars are only 90 calories. So you can eat one with no guilt.

Unsweetened banana chips & coconut chunks, roasted salted pistachios, raw almonds, and semi-sweet chocolate chips. More on the election this evening.

Don't forget to go vote!!! Ok, Internet, I need your help. In my effort to make healthier choices, I need some ideas for that awful time in the mid-afternoon, usually sometime between 2:30 and 3:30 pm. Coffee and chocolate have been my "pick-me-up" standbys. What can I do for a snack instead? Here are the parameters:

• It can't require refridgeration, at least not past the morning I'm going to eat it.
• It can require up to ~45 minutes of prep time, if that effort will get me 2-3 weeks worth of single-serving snacks. (Freezing is ok.)
• It can't require day-of prep time.
• It should be healthier than a candy bar or a pop tart.
• It can't be messy, as I'm going to be eating it at my desk.
• It can't involve peanut butter. (I know, I know, I'm unamerican. I hate peanut butter.)
