I can't explain the amazing power that The Wiggles have on toddlers and preschoolers. The closest analogy I can provide is that they are like catnip for small children.
Maybe it's the primary colors they wear, maybe it's the least scary
dinosaur (Dorothy; she likes dancing and roses) and least scary pirates
(led by Captain Feathersword) ever imagined, maybe it's the short,
catchy tunes. (There is no song that gets stuck in my head more easily
than Fruit Salad.)
Maybe there's just something innately compelling and funny about wiggling? Or grown men in colorful turtlenecks and silly costumes?
Here's what I can tell you. The Wiggles are coming to Milwaukee in less than 2 weeks - Sunday, October 18, at 1:30 pm at the Milwaukee Theater.
And the very nice people at PBS Sprout, who have invited me to join their Band of Bloggers, have given us tickets and have also given me a family 4-pack of tickets to give away here.
Leave your name, favorite Wiggles song, and email address (in the email address field) in a comment below. I will use a random number generator to pick a winner The winner will be selected at 11pm Central Time on Monday, 10/12 and notified by email.
(Ok, you don't actually have to admit to having a favorite Wiggles song. Do your kids have a favorite Wiggles son? I'm curious!)

My daughter and I love the Monkey Dance.

My favorite Wiggles song as a dad is "Morning Town Ride," because we sing that at bedtime. My favorite Wiggles song as an actual adult is "Six Months in a Leaky Boat," featuring Tim Finn of Split Enz and Crowded House. Sam and Caleb are big fans of "Wiggle Bay."
