I can't explain the amazing power that The Wiggles have on toddlers and preschoolers. The closest analogy I can provide is that they are like catnip for small children.
Maybe it's the primary colors they wear, maybe it's the least scary
dinosaur (Dorothy; she likes dancing and roses) and least scary pirates
(led by Captain Feathersword) ever imagined, maybe it's the short,
catchy tunes. (There is no song that gets stuck in my head more easily
than Fruit Salad.)
Maybe there's just something innately compelling and funny about wiggling? Or grown men in colorful turtlenecks and silly costumes?
Here's what I can tell you. The Wiggles are coming to Milwaukee in less than 2 weeks - Sunday, October 18, at 1:30 pm at the Milwaukee Theater.
And the very nice people at PBS Sprout, who have invited me to join their Band of Bloggers, have given us tickets and have also given me a family 4-pack of tickets to give away here.

Ok...true confessions time. I have a little crush on Captain FeatherSword (does he hyphenate, do you suppose or is it all one word?)! My favorite Wiggles song is when Captain FeatherSword falls asleep on his pirate ship but then he wakes up on a farm (oh, my goodness me). Ahoy there, ahoy there, ahoy there cock-a-doodle doo.

"Brown Girl in the Ring," by far. My youngest was a Wiggles fanatic til recently, and learned his colors by the Wiggles' colors ("That's a Greg shirt," "That's a Murray bowl") And Anthony, my Anthony! A little something for the mommies!

My favorite Wiggles song is whatever song they are singing, when my wife and kids are enjoying the show with y'all, while I am sitting on the couch, drinking beer from a can, watching football. ;)
